Your rights
Data protection gives you rights in relation to your personal information. Individuals to whom personal data relates are called ‘data subjects’.
As a data subject you have the right to ask us to:
- give you a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- correct personal data that is not accurate
- erase personal data in certain circumstances, where this would not breach any legal, regulatory, safety, security or core operational requirement.
Making a subject access request
Any request to view the personal data that we hold about you is known as a ‘subject access request’. We aim to meet all subject access requests within 20 working days of receipt of your request, although we may extend this to 40 working days for complex requests.
You will not be charged for making a subject access request.
To initiate a request, please email us at: dpo@wics.scot.
Making a data protection complaint
You have the right to complain to us if you think we have not handled your personal information in accordance with data protection legislation.
Specifically, you can complain to us about how we are handling your information if we:
- have not properly responded to your request for your personal information;
- are not keeping information secure;
- hold inaccurate information about you;
- have disclosed information about you;
- are keeping information about you for longer than is necessary;
- have collected information for one reason and is using it for something else; or
- have not upheld any of your data protection rights.
If you feel the need to make a data protection complaint, please get in touch with us via email at: dpo@wics.scot.
