Background
The Water Industry Investment Group ensures that the water industry is developing a sufficient programme of investment to meet the objectives that ministers set, and that the industry is delivering on these objectives. The group provides assurance to Scottish ministers.
Originally formed as the Scottish Government Investment Group (SGIG) in September 2023 when it was agreed to merge the Delivery Assurance Group (DAG) and Investment Planning and Prioritisation Group (IPPG) into a single group. The group was renamed to the Water Industry Investment Group (WIIG) in March 2025.
Since July 2026 the Group is chaired by the Water Industry Commission for Scotland. Prior to this it was chaired by the Scottish Government. Previous publications can be found here.
The group meets four times per year and operates at a strategic level.
