The Scottish Government has announced up to three vacancies for Members of WICS’ Board. The recruitment campaign launched on 10 March and will close at midday on 4 April 2025.
Ronnie Hinds, Interim Chair of WICS, welcomes applications from individuals keen to play a key role in shaping the future of Scotland’s water industry:
“This is an exciting time to join WICS as we take forward our Methodology for the Strategic Review of Charges 2027-33, setting the framework for Scottish Water’s journey towards delivering its long-term strategy and ensuring a sustainable industry for generations to come. You will be joining our Board at a crucial stage in this process, as we deliver our draft and final determinations of charges for the 2027-33 period—decisions that will have a lasting impact on customers, investment, and the future of Scotland’s water industry.
At the same time, WICS is undergoing significant organisational transformation, strengthening governance, financial controls, and risk management following the Auditor General’s Section 22 report. While progress has been made, strong Board leadership is essential to embed lasting change and reinforce WICS’ role as a trusted economic regulator.
We are seeking individuals who are passionate about Scotland’s public sector water industry and the importance of economic regulation. Ideal candidates will have experience in corporate governance, financial oversight, and data analysis, with the ability to provide strategic guidance and challenge.
Joining the WICS Board is a unique opportunity to influence the future of Scotland’s water sector. Your leadership and insights will help ensure the industry continues to serve customers effectively, invest for the long term, and uphold the highest standards of governance and accountability.
If you have the expertise, commitment and ambition to contribute to this exciting period of change, we would love to hear from you.”
